Rebecca Horn: Will o’ the Wisps of the Warriors

Sean Kelly is delighted to announce that Rebecca Horn's monumental installation, Will o’ the Wisps of the Warriors, created in 2006 and acquired by the Vereinigung Zürcher Kunstfreunde in 2014, is on view for the first time as part of the Kunsthaus Zürich's collection.
Six dark, figure-like steles -- to which bronze skulls, lamps and moving mirrors are attached -- create what poet Joachim Sartorius has called a ‘magical space of sacred beauty.’ Originally entitled ‘The Warriors,’ the installation acts out the fleeting, illusory presence of long-dead men of war and incorporates a musical element -- quivering, singing overtones that add a sonorous, ethereal dimension to the arrestingly sombre ballet of the six steles.
