Rebecca Horn: The Suitcase of Escape

Tthe Multimedia Art Museum Moscow (MAMM) in Russia will present a major exhibition of work by Rebecca Horn; entitled The Suitcase of Escape, this is the first solo exhibition of work by Rebecca Horn in the country. The Suitcase of Escape, which will comprise over thirty works in a variety of media including kinetic objects, documentation of her early performances, films and installations, will include an eponymously titled new installation created especially for the MAMM. The exhibition will be on view from May 14 through June 30, 2013.

The Suitcase of Escape provides a carefully curated study of Rebecca Horn's oeuvre, which has been highly influential in exploring expanded forms of self-perception and the boundaries of the human body as well as investigating the complex interrelation between the animate and inanimate. The exhibition will be accompanied by a publication featuring texts by Doris von Drathen, Martin Mosebach, Karl Henlein and Sergio Edelstein as well as poems by Rebecca Horn, translated into Russian by Aleksey Prokopyev, a prominent translator of poetry and the winner of the 2010 Andrei Bely Award, the oldest independent literary prize awarded in Russia.

On the occasion of the opening of the exhibition, Rebecca Horn will present a master class on May 15th at 7PM at the MAMM (Ostozhenka str., 16). Entrance to the class is free; to attend, please register with the MAMM at mk@mdf.ru.
