Laurent Grasso in the Olbricht Collectin

Works by Laurent Grasso will be included in an exhibition of the Olbricht Collection at La Maison Rouge in Paris, France. Titled memories of the future in reference to Grasso's neon sculpture of the same name (pictured above), the exhibition draws from the impressive collection of Thomas Olbricht, marking the first time the collection has been seen in France. The exemplary selection of works is curated by Wolfgang Schoppmann and will be on view from October 22, 2011 through January 15, 2012. memories of the future will be accompanied by a catalogue with texts in French and English jointly published by La Maison Rouge and Fage Éditions.

In his twenty-five years of collecting, Olbricht, a medical doctor from Essen, Germany, has amassed an astonishing collection of works spanning over five centuries of art. Two years ago, Olbricht founded a contemporary art venue in Berlin, me Collectors Room, which hosts temporary exhibitions alongside rotating selections of the 2,500 works in the collection. memories of the future brings together over 150 works from a wide range of artists including Albrecht Dürer, Gerhard Richter, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Cindy Sherman and John Currin, to name only a few, and offers a fascinating insight into a historic and provocative art collection.
