At the heart of the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, the artworks of American artist Kehinde Wiley are on showcase. Worldwide renowned for his bold interpretations of classical portraiture, Wiley brings a new vision to every one of his projects. The exhibition A Maze of Power presents a series of eleven portraits of African heads of state, in which the artist goes beyond the simple contours of figuration to explore more deeply the notion of power and its representation. Kehinde Wiley’s paintings are characterised by vivid colours and floral motifs that contrast with the poise of the models, revealing the specific characteristics of each of her subjects. He enhances every detail, challenging established norms, reinventing artistic codes, and provoking reflection.
Sharing Wiley’s works art with the Moroccan public allows them to discover the artistic creation of our time while celebrating diversity in all its splendor. This is how the National Foundation of Museums continues to develop its international partnerships to contribute to the promotion and dissemination of art and culture.
