David Claerbout in My World

The Netherlands is home to a wealth of contemporary art, often 'hidden' in private collections. From 18 September 2024, Singer Laren will bring together a selection of these works of art in My World. The exhibition offers a unique insight into some of the most important private Dutch collections with top-quality international contemporary art. It features work from all over the world by artists including Yayoi Kusama, Charles Avery, Ai Weiwei, Zanele Muholi, Marlene Dumas and Anselm Kiefer. The exhibition was put together by art critic and curator Hans den Hartog Jager and highlights the world that an art collector builds and continues to expand.

In My World, the visitor travels through seven museum rooms, each with its own theme and atmosphere. From a room full of portraits and human figures that hold up a mirror to us, to the final room in which heaven and the universe are central. Here we are briefly confronted with the intangible and eternity.

The exhibition is part of a long tradition of Singer Laren to show work from private collections. By working with collectors, the museum makes art that is normally not accessible to the public visible. In doing so, the museum invites everyone to discover the world of contemporary art and to experience how works of art can expand and enrich everyone's world. The exhibition My World can be seen in Singer Laren from 18 September 2024 to 12 January 2025.
