Candida Höfer in What nature reveals itself to be

For 20 years, the Solothurn-based artist Luzia Hürzeler (born 1976) has been exploring the representation of animals and the cultural ideas people associate with them. In her photographs, videos, and installations, Hürzeler critically examines how animals are staged in natural history museums, zoos, and in art, and what meanings are attributed to them. The exhibition invites visitors to trace the construction of "images of nature" and explore alternative perspectives. Thus, at the Solothurn Art Museum, founded in 1902 as the "Museum of Art and Science," wolves, birds, and even gorillas are once again among the protagonists.
