Alec Soth: From Here to There

From Here to There: Alec Soth's America, the first major survey of Soth's work assembled in the United States, will be on view at the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, New York. The exhibition, which was organized by the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota and is curated by the Walker's Siri Engberg, provides a focused look at over 15 years of Soth's career. From Here to There will be on view from October 1, 2011 through January 12, 2012 and is accompanied by a catalogue.

The exhibition features more than 100 photographs made between 1994 and the present, including rarely-seen early black-and-white images along with examples from some of Soth's best-known series, Sleeping by the Mississippi and NIAGARA, and a broad range of portraits made over the past 15 years in Soth’s native state of Minnesota. The exhibition will also include Broken Manual, a body of work that the artist has been developing since 2006, which explores places of escape in America and individuals who have retreated from society.

Alec Soth will have his first exhibition at the Sean Kelly Gallery in February of 2012. The exhibition will be comprised of photographs from his Broken Manual series.
