Shahzia Sikander in Conversation with Doryun Chong

Artist Shahzia Sikander will explore her distinctive approach to power, trade, and global exchange in conversation with Doryun Chong, the artistic director and chief curator of M+ in Hong Kong. Known for subverting classical Indo-Persian miniature painting, Sikander’s work is characterized by fluidity and fragmentation, resonating with our postmodern global world. Spanning several decades, her iconoclastic practice now extends from drawing and painting to include mosaics, sculpture, and video. Timed to coincide with the unveiling of 3 to 12 Nautical Miles – her latest hand-painted animation co-commissioned by Art Basel and M+, and presented by UBS on the M+ Facade – this discussion will provide a deeper insight into her interdisciplinary work.

The Conversations program takes place in the Auditorium, N101B, Level 1, Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre
