Sean Kelly Gallery is pleased to announce that the exhibition Rebecca Horn, Rebeliao em Silencio, originally shown at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brazil (C.C.B.B) Rio de Janeiro, is traveling to the Centro Cultural Banco de Brazil São Paulo. The retrospective, which is organized by the C.C.B.B, the Goethe Institute and Magnetoscopio and curated by Marcello Dantas, will be on view from August 3 through October 3, 2010.

Rebecca Horn, Rebeliao em Silencio is the first major solo retrospective of the artist's work in Brazil. Rebecca Horn's practice, which spans a wide variety of media including film, performance, installation, photography and sculpture, engages themes of perception, philosophy and communication. The employment of such wide ranging interests as science and alchemy, the rational and the intuitive, personal history and social memory, the mechanical and the sensual, has occurred repeatedly in her work over the last four decades and has resulted in one of the most distinct oeuvres in the art world. The exhibition covers the full breadth of Horn's practice including films of early performance works, sculptural installations with light or sound and a selection of the recent, much celebrated large scale paintings on paper that Horn began in 2004.
