Peter Liversidge: Notes on Protesting

Whitechapel Gallery will present Peter Liversidge: Notes on Protesting, a solo exhibition inspired by ideas surrounding demonstration and protest. The exhibition is a result of Liversidge’s collaboration with a group of sixty children aged eight to nine from the Marion Richardson Primary School in Tower Hamlets.
Liversidge worked with the children over a period of four months to encourage them to express their views on community and the power of a collective voice. During this time they composed and wrote lyrics for protest songs, created choreography and designed banners and placards. A film of their collective performance, which took place at Whitechapel Gallery and London’s South Bank on May Day 2014, will be displayed alongside archive material.
To coincide with the exhibition Liversidge will restage the Notes on Protesting performance on May Day, Friday, May 1, 2015, at 12pm with students from the Marion Richardson Primary School.
