Whitechapel Gallery will host a new performance, Peter Liversidge: Notes on Protesting, on Thursday, May 1st in Gallery 2 at 12pm. Liversidge collaborated with a group of sixty children aged eight to nine from the Marion Richardson Primary School in the London borough of Tower Hamlets.
Over the past three months they have examined ideas around community and the power of protest as a viable means of communication. Liversidge worked with the children to create an engaging performance of choreographed demonstrations, creating songs, colorful banners and place cards, which express their views on everything from the school playground and tight-fitting shoes to a dislike of canned tomatoes.
The performance was commissioned by EMDASH and produced by Wedel Art Advisory.
