With this exhibition, the Kunsthalle Bremen is celebrating a premiere: For the first time, all the rooms of the house will be presented with a large exhibition. Each room presents only one masterpiece - the show explores the question of how even today the concept of iconic worship and the idea of the supersensible are combined.
In a staging focused on the single work of art, various aspects of spirituality, worship and worship are presented. The exhibition invites you to experience iconic works of art from nine centuries in a new, direct way. Works by Kehinde Wiley, Marina Abramović, Joseph Kosuth, and Kris Martin among others are complemented by everyday "icons" from the brand world and pop culture such as Marilyn Monroe, Beyoncé and YouTuber "Bibi". The interpretation of traditional iconic thought in art is thus contrasted with the phenomenon of iconization in our everyday lives.
