Julian Charrière: Towards No Earthly Pole

For the first time ever, we will present an online screening of Julian Charrière's film, Towards No Earthly Pole, on what would have been the last day of his solo exhibition at the gallery. Charrière's film will be available on Vimeo from 10am - 6pm EST for this exclusive one-day event.

Charrière conceived the film, Towards No Earthly Pole, while aboard a Russian research ship for the first Antarctic Biennale. This meditative 104-minute film is the result of a series of expeditions made between 2017-2019. Filmed at night, the dazzling landscapes Charrière captured are dramatically lit by a spotlight carried on a drone; as light tracks across the dark terrain, incredible shapes and tonalities of an almost otherworldly nature are revealed.

While we are saddened that we cannot personally welcome you to the gallery, we hope this special initiative will connect us all online. Join us on social media and tag @SeanKellyNY and #TowardsNoEarthlyPole to share a pic of your at-home screening. The person with who submits the best picture of them screening the film will receive a signed copy of Julian Charrière's catalogue.

We look forward to seeing how everyone enjoys the film.
