the Empire State Building, and plummeted to the street. The
birds, inadvertent suicides, hurled themselves at top speed into
windows. Some died instantly. Some survived the long drop to

Sean Kelly Gallery is delighted to announce that the Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh will hold an exhibition of Johan Grimonprez's film work. The exhibition will open on May 22 and continue through July 11, 2010.

Curated by Fiona Bradley, director of the Fruitmarket Gallery, the exhibition will be the first British gallery showing of the internationally acclaimed documentary film DOUBLE TAKE. It will be seen in the context of dial H-I-S-T-O-R-Y (1997) and two earlier films: Kobarweng or Where is Your Helicopter" (1992) and It Will Be Alright If You Come Again, Only Next Time Don't Bring Any Gear, Except A Tea Kettle (1994). Through these works, the exhibition will offer the public a chance to trace the development of Grimonprez's persuasive ongoing inquiry into the complex relationships the modern Western world has with its own social, cultural, historical and political identity, and with its representation of that identity to itself.

A discussion between Fiona Bradley and Johan Grimonprez will take place at 3pm on May 22, 2010.
