In a journey designed as a path that goes against the grain of our lives (we enter an "in memoriam" space and end up in a room dedicated to birth), this project invites the visitor to go through all the phases that can mark a life.
We thus see bodies and faces "fixed" by painting, photography, and video, among other media, as if frozen in one of the phases of their existence. Old age, the prime of life, adolescence, early childhood, and birth form the major chapters of this project, created using the collection held at the MAMCS. From Renoir to Sarah Jones, from Muybridge to Marlene Dumas, the project also incorporates several pieces loaned by museums within the Strasbourg network, forging new connections between the institutions' collections.
