Antony Gormley in Après nous le deluge

Presenting artworks that critically and analytically relate to a world where man is the measure of all things, Après nous le déluge offers a selection of ‘scenes from the anthropocene’, which can be disturbing or hopeful in the way they illuminate both the positive and negative implications of the time we live in. Scenes from the Anthropocene shows the unprecedented possibilities that man has created for himself. It shows the ability of people to imagine something, to build something up. But it also shows the dark side of the anthropocene: how we get caught up in our own ideas. How we treat the earth and each other too selfishly. Après nous le déluge is about the thin line that people walk between using and breaking with systems they have made themselves. Are we concerned about the future or is the motto simply ‘after us the deluge’?

Antony is exhibiting BOARD (2015) and STAY VI (2017) alongside works by Grayson Perry, Paul Chan, Marta Volkova & Slava Shevelenko, Michellino, Laure Prouvost, Melanie Bonajo, Raymond Pettibon, Camille Henrot, Zheng Guogu, Ciprian Muresan and Maria Barnas.
