Sean Kelly is delighted to participate in Art Basel Hong Kong 2017, where we will present a carefully curated booth focused on artists whose work employs alchemy. The seemingly magical process of transformation, creation, and change in form, nature, material and meaning is evident in the various oeuvres of Marina Abramović, Julian Charrière, Laurent Grasso, Rebecca Horn, Tehching Hsieh, Callum Innes, Hugo McCloud, Mariko Mori, Shahzia Sikander, and Sun Xun. Their extraordinary work will be presented in the context of iconic pieces by Joseph Beuys, Marcel Duchamp, and Yves Klein.
During the fair, Art Basel and Google Arts & Culture will present the exhibition, Virtual Frontiers: Artists Experimenting With Tilt Brush, featuring a new virtual reality work created by Sun Xun. The presentation will be open to the public with general admission tickets for Art Basel in Hong Kong from Thursday to Saturday, March 23 - 25, and is free of charge. Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. To register, please visit eventbrite.co.uk.
On Friday, March 24th, at 2 pm, at the Hong Kong Art Centre’s cinema, Tehching Hsieh, who is representing Taiwan at the 2017 Venice Biennale, will discuss his renowned series of One Year Performances. Hsieh will be joined by author and curator Adrian Heathfield. Heathfield will discuss his curatorial approach to Hsieh's work for the Biennale exhibition, its use of time, law and the body, and its prescient relation to capitalism's systems of control.
