Sean Kelly at ADAA: The Art Show 2013
March 6 - 10, 2013, Booth B31

新聞稿

Sean Kelly announces that we will be exhibiting at the ADAA: The Art Show fair at the Park Avenue Armory at 67th Street. In honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Art Dealers Association of America, Sean Kelly (Booth B31) will mount a one-person exhibition of carefully selected portraits of artists by Robert Mapplethorpe, many of whom have significantly impacted the history and development of the art world over the past 50 years. The selection, which includes portraits of artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Ellsworth Kelly, Roy Lichtenstein, Isamu Noguchi and Yoko Ono to name a few, will be accompanied by Mapplethorpe's first and last self-portraits. This presentation affords a focused insight into a rarely exhibited facet of the artist's oeuvre.

Sean Kelly has represented The Estate of Robert Mapplethorpe since 2002, mounting a series of successful and innovative exhibitions from the archives of this hugely influential American photographer. Mapplethorpe's photographs are an important part of the American canon, ranging in subject matter from works that emphasize classical formal beauty—statuesque male and female nudes, delicate flowers and still-lifes—to more informal portraits of artists, musicians, choreographers, poets, writers and members of New York's underground communities. Robert Mapplethorpe has been the subject of numerous exhibitions in galleries and museums throughout the world, including major traveling retrospectives. He is widely considered to be one of the most important American photographers of the latter half of the twentieth century.

The Art Show will be held at the Park Avenue Armory at 67th Street; for more information, please visit The Art Show website.
