Sean Kelly Gallery’s presentation for Art Basel Miami Beach 2020 OVR will highlight a selection of artists who will have solo exhibitions at the gallery from Fall 2020 through Spring 2021. Our online viewing room will feature Shahzia Sikander’s newest animated film Reckoning, currently on view as part of her critically acclaimed exhibition Weeping Willows, Liquid Tongues through December 19th; a new painting by Hugo McCloud, composed entirely of single use plastic bags the work address issues concerning the economics of labor, geopolitics and the environmental impact of the material he employs, a new series of these paintings will be on view in the gallery from by January - February 2021; a new painting by Sam Moyer, recognized for a diverse practice in which she unites found textures and objects in innovative ways, Moyer installed her first monumental public sculpture, Doors for Doris, at the entrance to Central Park, which will remain in situ for a year. She will have an exhibition of new work at the gallery from March - April 2021; a new cutout work by Jose Dávila, whose practice has explored spatial occupation and the transitory nature of physical structures, his solo exhibition at the gallery, May – June 2021, will present sculpture, cut photographs and paintings.
Our presentation will also include work by Antony Gormley, whose sculptures address the human figure in forms that vary from singular objects of discrete size to massive, multipartite installations and environments composed of hundreds of life size figures; Callum Innes, whose minimalist practice involves layering and removing paint from canvases to create a subtle interplay between tone and texture, making and unmaking; Landon Metz whose work has garnered critical attention for his ability to imbue a language of abstraction with visual dynamism and sense of movement; Janaina Tschäpe, whose paintings link the process of artistic practice to life cycles found in nature. Currently the subject of a solo installation at the Musée de l'Orangerie, Paris, she will have career survey exhibition at the Sarasota Art Museum in early December; Kehinde Wiley, whose colossal sculpture, Rumors of War, has become a steady beacon of progress in the recent battle to remove Confederate monuments in Richmond, Virginia; and Wu Chi-Tsung, whose innovative work features a broad range of media including photography, video, installation and painting, in which he combines traditional and contemporary forms and methodologies to explore perceptions of the physical and natural worlds.
