Sean Kelly is delighted to announce its inaugural participation in Frieze London 2021. The gallery will present a visually dynamic and carefully curated group of works by some of the younger artists we represent, including 2021 Prix Marcel Duchamp nominee Julian Charrière, Jose Dávila, Hugo McCloud, Landon Metz, Sam Moyer, Alec Soth and Wu Chi-Tsung. This selection reflects the strength and diversity of the gallery’s program established over three decades and focuses on our commitment to connoisseurship and aesthetic diversity.

Our booth will feature a new sculpture and photographs by Julian Charrière created in response to his travels through the Antarctic landscape. Known for his research-based practice rooted in geology, biology, physics, history, and archaeology, Charrière’s oeuvre explores how human civilization, and the natural landscape are inextricably linked. Jose Dávila, whose practice has explored spatial occupation and the transitory nature of physical structures, will be represented by one of his iconic sculptures and new photographic cut-outs. Drawing on his formal training as an architect, Davila creates sculptural installations and photographic works that simultaneously emulate, critique, and pay homage to 20th century avantgarde art and architecture. Paintings fashioned of metal and plastic by Hugo McCloud, will offer insight into the breadth of his practice and highlight the artist’s ongoing interest in finding the beauty in everyday materials that are often overlooked. New paintings by Landon Metz, who has garnered critical attention for his ability to imbue a language of abstraction with visual dynamism and a sense of movement, demonstrate how the artist’s work has the capacity to expand and deal with space serially, while being site-responsive rather than site-specific. New works by Sam Moyer, who manipulates found textures and materials into powerful and evocative abstract works, that demonstrate how she employs both the hand-made and readymade to produce works that evince beauty, humor, balance, and chance. Two new photographs by Alec Soth, whose work is rooted in a distinctly American photographic tradition, illustrate the mythologies and particularities that proliferate in America’s diverse communities. And a new video and cyanotype collages by Wu Chi-Tsung, whose innovative work features a broad range of media, illustrate his unique approach to materials, combining traditional and contemporary forms and methodologies to explore perceptions of the physical and natural worlds.
